Correction Policy

We make mistakes. Here's how we fix them—publicly, promptly, and permanently on the record.

Our Commitment

Every review we publish represents our best judgment at the time. But we're human, and errors happen. When they do, we fix them openly. No quiet edits. No memory-holing mistakes. Every change is logged and explained.

Types of Corrections

Factual Errors

Incorrect statements about a product's features, pricing, policies, or capabilities. These are corrected immediately upon verification.

"We stated the free tier includes 100 API calls; it actually includes 1,000."

Score Adjustments

Changes to numerical scores based on new information, product updates, or methodology revisions. Original scores are preserved with strikethrough.

"Data Privacy score updated from 72 to 81 after vendor provided SOC2 certification."

Clarifications

Additional context that doesn't change conclusions but improves accuracy or nuance. These are added inline with [Clarification] tags.

"[Clarification: This limitation applies only to the Starter tier.]"

Retractions

In rare cases where a review contains fundamental errors that undermine its validity, we retract and replace it. The original remains archived.

"This review has been retracted. A revised review was published on [date]."

Correction Process

1

Submit the Correction Request

Email corrections@toolintel.ai with the specific error and supporting evidence. We accept corrections from anyone—vendors, readers, researchers.

2

Verification (24-72 hours)

We independently verify the claim. For vendor-submitted corrections, we require documentation. For factual claims, we re-test when possible.

3

Correction Published

The correction is added to the review with a visible notice. Original text is preserved with strikethrough. The Correction Log (below) is updated.

4

Notification

The submitter is notified. For significant corrections, we notify subscribers who read the original review.

What Won't Change a Score

  • Vendor disagreement with methodology — Our methodology is public; disagreeing with weights isn't grounds for correction
  • Subjective assessments — "We think our UX is better than you rated it" isn't verifiable
  • Promised future improvements — We review what exists, not roadmaps
  • Competitor comparisons — "We're better than X" doesn't change our review of your product

Important: Vendor responses are not corrections. Companies can submit formal responses that are published alongside reviews, but these do not alter scores or conclusions. See Methodology for the vendor response policy.
